These colorful and visually stunning dinner plates were made by Thomas Morris Regent Works, Longton, Staffordshire, England. The plates measure 10" in diameter and stand 1/2" tall.
These plates are made of a white hard-paste porcelain with transfer-ware and hand decorated flowers. The plates are in excellent condition. There are some minor utensil marks, like the set was used a couple of times, and then put away for 80 years. You will find other minor wear marks, but they are small and not easy to spot.
None of these minor blemishes take away from the inherent beauty of the plates. Please see photos for details. Enjoy more photos of this and our other items at.The Thomas Morris Regent Mark. This "TM" mark with a reclining lion was only used for a brief time, and even then it was used rarely. We have been unable to find any other copies of this mark. There are a couple other similar marks at on-line pottery mark web sites, but not identical. Great Britain began requiring the'Made in England' mark stamped on porcelain in 1930.
And the Regent Works back-stamps were retired forever. So, these plates can be dated to between 1930 and 1937. Coalport was the first English pottery house to design the familiar "Indian Tree" pattern. The pattern is actually based on Chinese designs, but was still called the Indian Tree design.
It has been copied by most of the other English porcelain companies of the 19th century. What sets these Regent Indian Tree plates apart is the beautifully decorated inner bevel and outer rim. The gold and hunter green colors really bring out the Indian Tree color and design!Beautiful Colors and Timeless Appeal!
